211 Putnam Avenue.
The Greenwich office has been the firm's headquarters since 1989, when Robert Vail moved the firm into a restored 1920s Cos Cob-style brick carriage-house building on Putnam Avenue. Howard Ashcroft had run the firm out of his garage on Lake Avenue from 1962 through 1971, then out of a small storefront on Greenwich Avenue from 1971 through 1989. The Putnam Avenue building is the third and current home of the firm.
This office is the firm's largest operation. Eighteen of the firm's thirty-two trucks dispatch from here. Daniel works out of the corner office on the second floor that was his father's office and his grandfather's office before that. Helena's office is across the hall. Margaret's dispatch desk is on the ground floor; the dispatch board and the staging area for the two idling overnight trucks occupy the converted carriage-house bay at the back of the property.
The senior master plumber assigned to the Greenwich location is Marcus DiTeresa, who has been with the firm since 2008. Marcus walks every Greenwich rough-in under eight thousand square feet (Daniel walks the larger ones personally). He sits on the firm's three-person internal-quality committee with Patrick Walsh from Westport and Caroline Vance from White Plains.
